Networking Configuration

Hello, I have a home network in which 3 p/c's (all Windows XP Pro) are
connected to a Linksys router (BEFSR41). The router is connected to a
cable modem. When the cable modem is NOT connected, I can see all the
machines on my home network. When I connect the cable modemto the router,
i can no longer see the computer. Why? What can I do to enable my ability
to see all the computers on my network.

Jim,
what do you mean "not connected" ? Do you mean to the cable line or to the
network ?
Is it possible you tried to connect the modem to a LAN port on the router
instead of the WAN port ?
