I have two computers running xp home and sometimes they can connect and
sometimes they can't and I have figure out that the problem is caused by
zone alarm. I am wondering if anyone here knows what setting to change, so
they can always connect. They are on a home network, connecting through a
router.

There are two rules to success in life
1) Never tell people everything you know

i would tell you but I wouldn't want to break rule #1. :)

I would suggest to review your router settings, setup.
There are many ways and things depending on the make, model, and what's
inside.

Go to the MFG site and look for a news group or bullitin board.

I have seen a couple of comments that say to just reinstall the router
software or settings?

Hi:

I had a similar problem and posted it sometime back. The reply and
solution was to upgrade your Zone Alarm to the latest version 5.1.011.000,
which corrected this problem. In addition, you should also add your main
(desktop or whatever) to your wireless (normally laptop) as a Trusted Site
within Zone Alarm. To do this open up ZA and then Firewall >Zones Tab . Now
click on "Add" bottom right (IP Address) and enter the name of your main
computer and IP address as a Trusted Site. Now your main computer will
recognize your other as a Trusted Site.If you already have the latest ZA
then this most likely is your problem.

Accomplishing both of the above should remedy any problems as described.

I already had the latest version, so I just added each ip to the other
computer's zone alarm and it works perfectly now. Thank you for the help.
