network wont refresh?

Ive got a problem where my network wont refresh. It shows my friends computer
still attached to the network even though it isnt, my bros computer on even
though it isnt, and it wont show my moms. I hit refresh on the network and it
still wont show. Im using XP, bros using XP, friends using XP pro, and my
moms using 2000.
Its kind of annoying that I cant get into my friends shared folder when hes
over cause the old shared folder is still showing up. Thanks for the help.

Browsing is an inefficient way to locate network resources. It can take 12
minutes for a newly started computer to appear in the browse list. If you
know the name of the machine and the shared folder, click start run
\\computername\sharename ENTER. If that does not work, use
\\IPadressofcomputer\sharename. It can take up to 72 minutes for a
disconnected computer to be deleted from the browse list. See:
