Trying to set up the network. No luck. Had these computer
talking with each other at one time. One had 98se and the
other ME. A lot of trouble with ME so cleaned(format) the
HD put on full XP home. Cleaned 98 box and reloaded
everything.
Cable modem, Belkin router.
Have gone through all the trouble shooters getting to the
Windows can't help window.
Added a laptop with XP home to the equation, two XP boxes
talk, but neither can find the 98, nor can the 98 find
either XP. I thought my problems were over when I got rid
of ME.
Thanks

Problem found-firewalls. Running Norton PF-configured it's
network trusted zones. Disabled windows ICF.

Jay, all,

please stick to the same thread and the same subject when you
add comments. The reason is that an unrelated message is seen
too late when messages are read in thread order.

Note that threading by reference often fails when people neglect
to start a new thread when the subject changes, hence many
experienced users use threading by subject only. This means that
the subject should not be changed unless the topic of the thread
genuinely changes.
