I am running my pc with xp and dsl internet. want to know if possible to set
up an older pc with windows 98 to share the internet.there is no slot for the
ethernet port to plug into on the motherboard, but has an older style port
which the cable fits.can anyone please help?

Is the "older style port which the cable fits" an RJ-45 port (that is, does an
Ethernet cable actually fit into it properly (not an RJ-11 voice cable / modem)?
If so, you probably have the computer physically setup.
Now, how are you going to share internet service with the Windows XP system?
How is the XP computer connected to the DSL modem? Does the modem connect to
the XP computer with Ethernet? If so, please do everybody a favour and buy a
NAT router ($40 - $50 at any department or electronics store), and connect both
computers to the router.
With XP, you can run the networking wizard, which will generate a networking
floppy that you can apply to the Windows 98 computer, and make all the necessary
settings.
