Hallo *,

Problem is that I cannot connect a network drive.
It's not possible via Explorer (if I select Tools / Map Network drive ...
there will no dialog open), it's also not possible via the net use command.
All other is fine, I can ping other PC's, can use VNC and / or DameWare
Remote Desktop and can use the Internet via this network connection.

Can anyone help?

Daniel

Daniel,

Are you running both Client for Microsoft Networks, and File and Printer Sharing
for Microsoft Networks (Local Area Connection - Properties), on each computer?
Do you have shares setup on each?

Are you running NetBIOS Over TCP/IP (Local Area Connection - Properties - TCP/IP
- Properties - Advanced - WINS) on each computer?

Make sure the browser service is running on one computer. Control Panel -
Administrative Tools - Services. Verify that the Computer Browser, and the
TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper, services both show with Status = Started. Disable the
browser on the other computers.

After changing any browser setting, power all computers off to reset the browser
settings on each. Then power each computer on again, starting with the one
expected to stay online the most.

Do any of the computers have a software firewall (ICF / WF, or third party)? If
so, you need to configure them for file sharing. Firewall configurations are a
very common cause of (network) browser, and file sharing, problems.
