If you want specific advice you need to give specific details. You haven't
even given the OS used - and is it the same for all of the machines, same
revision, firewalls etc.
You say you have run out of ideas- but think of the posters replying to your
question- you could be wasting everyone's time reposting what you have
tried- What were your ideas? Perhaps you have missed something that could be
seen from your efforts. Give people a chance without wasting their efforts-
give some details.

Have you disabled/removed any firewalls on the machines to see if that is
the cause for example? It is fairly basic- You reply- yes, I've done that-
but how does anyone know?

And there are newsgroups about networks that would probably be a better bet-
but even they need details.

Check that they are members of the same workgroup. make sure that NetBIOS
over TCP/IP is turned on. Make sure the Computer Browser service is running
on each computer in the workgroup. Computer Browser service maintains an
updated list of computers on the workgroup, and it supplies this list to
computers that are designated as browsers. If this service is stopped, the
computers may not be seen from My Network Place/Network Neighborhood.
To do that, go to the properties of My Network Places>network
connection>Properties of TCP/IP>Advanced >WINS, select "Enable NetBIOS over
TCP/IP.

anyother ideas?

Check event viewer on affected machines for any applicable errors or
warning. If you are using a third party firewall make sure the process is
not running although it is set as off. Configure the firewall not to start
on start up. Rebooting machine might help.
