Network Problem after Driveimage

I had to do a driveimage restore on 2 different computers. Both of these
were running XP SP1. My server is running Server 2003.

On both machines, after I did the driveimage restore during boot up the
logon screen said the domain controller could not be found. I hadn't
changed login names or passwords or the domain name since the date of the
driveimage.

On both machines, I did a format and installed 98SE and was able to log on
to the domain with no problem. I did a driveimage of the 2 machines again
after installing SE and was able to do a restore with no problems.

Any suggestions what I have to do with XP to connect to my network after
doing a driveimage restore would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply. I'm not very sophisticated and don't know what you
mean by "the secure channel may got broken." How old does the image have
to be to have this happen. Do I need to image once a week, month,
quarter???

Since I back up my data every day, I really just do a driveimage to avoid
having to reinstall all my programs in the event of a virus etc.... Thanks
for any help you can give.

Issues with domain membership after a system restore

Excerpt:
The passwords for a particular computer account are valid for its particular
join. For each computer that is a member of a domain, there is a discrete
communication channel with a domain controller. This discrete communication
channel is also known as the secure channel. The password for the secure
channel is stored with the computer account on all domain controllers. For
Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP, the default computer account
password change period is every 30 days. If the computer account's password
and the Local Security Authority (LSA) secret are not synchronized, the Net
Logon service logs error messages.

Thanks. Hope I won't need it again but I'll be able to solve the problem.
