Craig,

Please define "will not allow me to print anything" in more detail. What
specific error are you seeing?

How did you install the printer drivers on pcs 2 and 3? Were the installations
started from a CD ROM from the printer vendor? Or did you (in both cases?)
select the printer share from the XP Add a Network Printer wizard?

Cheers,
Chuck

Many thanks for the reply. The printer error that I get
just says Document Failed To Print. I have even tried
Notepad, when I select print it shows me the correct
network printer, I have also tried to print from Word,
Excel and even a photo. I installed the drivers the same
way on all 3 with the CD that came with the printer. hope
this helps Chuck.

Craig,

Not a terribly descriptive error there.

What are the differences between pcs 2 and 3? Hardware, how do you login,
operating system...? Maybe history of all 3 pcs would be helpful.

Are you running both Client for Microsoft Networks, and File and Printer Sharing
for Microsoft Networks (Local Area Connection - Properties), on each computer?
Do you have shares setup on each?

Are you running NetBIOS Over TCP/IP (Local Area Connection - Properties - TCP/IP
- Properties - Advanced - WINS) on each computer?

Sorry Chuck you just completly lost me with all that
info.

Craig,

Let's try again.

You say that you can print from PC2 but not from PC3.

First, I asked you what are the differences between the two computers?
Differences such as (but not limited to) hardware (make and model of computer),
software (operating system for instance), history (did you buy each one new,
used, how long have you had each computer, what operating system did it come
with, what have you changed on any computer)? Any one of those details might
give us a clue what your problem is.

Also, current configuration can cause problems with file and printer sharing.
So some useful things to check WRT network configuration.

Make sure the browser service is running on each computer. Control Panel -
Administrative Tools - Services. Verify that the Computer Browser service shows
with Status = Started.

Do any of the computers have a software firewall (ICF / WF, or third party)? If
so, you need to configure them for file sharing, by opening ports TCP 139, 445
and UDP 137, 138, 445, and / or by identifying the other computers as present in
the Local (Trusted) zone. Firewall configurations are a very common cause of
(network) browser, and file sharing, problems.

If your problem is solvable, the more questions you can answer the better.

Once we get these issues resolved (eliminated), we'll consider security issues.
