Network path not found

I am networking 2 computers: desktop using xp pro and laptop using 98se.
When connected, the laptop has no problem accessing the desktop. The
desktop has the laptop listed in the workgroup computers and I am able to
ping successfully, but whe I attempt to open, I get the Network Path cannot
be found error. I am running Norton Firewall, but have the laptops ip
address listed as an exception (have also tried disabling). Both have
netbios enabled. Have included Browstat results:

Status for domain NETHOME on transport
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{B2D769D1-8447-47CD-A9F0-4C90BFAE0316}
Browsing is active on domain.
Master browser name is: HOME
Master browser is running build 2600
1 backup servers retrieved from master HOME
\\HOME
There are 2 servers in domain NETHOME on transport

Steve,

a useful command can be: browstat vw 1

But to solve your problem you can use
http://www.michna.com/kb/wxnet.htm . This page also contains
some more information on browstat.

I completed the form as instructed and read it twice, but it said I did not
answer a question correctly and could not help with my specific problem.
I've uninstalled my Norton Firewall and still get the same message. I just
don't understand. It sees theother computer in the workgroup and pings it
successfully, but cannot access it. There is no Firewall at all on the other
computer!

Steve,

this means that you haven't actually filled the form completely.

To use it, you have to take the time to go through it
completely, choice by choice. You cannot miss a single one.
