Hi,

I a Windows 2000 PC whose shares are protected with a Administrator
password. When I connect to this Win2K PC through my LAN Win98 PC, I
have to enter the password to get access to my Win2K share.

But when I connect to my Win2K machine through the Internet through a
Win98 machine, it connects directly without any password ! All shares
are open ! Why is this happening, I dont understand. Any help would
be appreciated

I am using TCP/IP and NetBeui protocols.

Thanks in Advance.

Regards,
Derek

WIn 98 autmatically sends a username and password to
anymachine it tries to connect to, so if you are logged
onto one of the other machines with your admin password,
that would do it. also, if you have told win98 to remember
your username and password for the 2K box, that'd do it

Thanks !! Yes I had told my win98 box to remember the password. How
can I make my win98 box to forget my password? Is there a way?

Thanks in advance.

Delete the .acl file. I forget what it's called. I think it's
username.acl and it should be in the Windows directory.
