Network Password expiring warning notification w/laptop not on net

Our laptops setup that first time user MUST be connected to network to
signon (we use network user account for access to the laptop. no access to
the laptop for the user via a local accounts). After the inital loggon the
laptop is set for the user. We have network security forthe network account
that the password expires in 90 day. In 90 the normal user gets Password
expiring notification 15 day out from the 90 days. The laptop user does not
get the Password expiring warning notification (becase they are field staff
and not connected to the network) We do not allow change thru dialup.
Is there anyway to have the Password expiring warning notification on the
laptop when it is not connected to the network all the time.? That way the
users can come in from the field to change the network password. Calander
tricks are PITA along with lame Utilities that have to be reset every time (a
post-it note works better but am lookin for the the real thing or as close as
we can)

I don't believe there is a way for when users are using cached credentials
to logon to the domain. Users can still logon with cached credentials after
their password expires but they will be denied access to domain resources
after the password expires. What you could try is to create a Scheduled Task
on their computer that pops up a message or starts an application after a
specified period of time reminding the user that their password will need to
be changed soon after they change their password. In XP you can use Schtasks
to do such at the command line from a batch file that may help automate the
process. --- Steve
