this is a WindowsXP workstation on a network of about a
100 machines that vary from 95 to XP the server is a
Windows 2000 Server running a TCP/IP network. This
problem is only occuring on the XP machines, and is not
consistant, it will disappear and reappear without

Hi Paul,

Normally when we see this issue of the clients appearing and disappearing in the browse list
it is associated with the antivirus installed on the client machine. It can also be caused by
other protocols installed on the machines in addition to the standard TCP/IP.

So the first suggestion is to check for other protocols and if there are, uninstall any not needed.
If you need more thna one, then make sure that TCP/IP is bound first to the adapter.

Then uninstall the antivirus on one of the clients to test.

Those are the most two common causes. There could be others but will reserve them if we
need them.

Hope this helps,
Gary
