Network map does not stay

I have an XP client and an NT4.0 server sharing a folder. From the XP client
I map the shared folder "G" through My Computer-map network drive and select
the
shared folder and have the box check to reconnect at logon. I have done
this several times and whenever I logout or restart the client, the mapped
drive is no longer there. I have to go and remap it again. I have tried
this as a power user and an administrator to the client and still no luck.
If I select another letter like "H", the mapping will stay after logout or
restart. How can I get the "G" mapping to stay?
Any thoughts on why it keeps losing the mapping for "G"?

Are you plugging in a removable device such as a USB memory stick or
camera that may be "grabbing" G: drive ?

We are not plugging in any removable devices. I actually have this happening

on four XP clients. This started happening afer we moved the shared
directory from one physical drive to another on the NT4 server.

I would tend to believe that it has to do with the XP client. I have several
other XP clients that keep the mapped "G" drive. The problem clients can map
to the server through the "G" drive during the session, but when they logout
or restart, the mapping is lost until they are manually remapped again.
