My G drive is mapped but my thumb drives etc always want to be G:

Hello,

I have a computer that has the G: drive mapped - it is mapped on all of our
workstations to G for graphics. I'd prefer not to remap the drive to
another letter for consistancy sake. However if I plug in a thumbdrive or
any external drive, it always says it is the G: drive in disk manager
although I can't get to the contents as G: is already mapped and stays
mapped. Is there a way to tell your workstation to always use H: or some
other drive letter for externals?

Thanks

right-click on my computer > manage > disk managment. You will then
see all connected drives (including your external drive), right-click
on this and change the letter of this drive to h.

Whenever you re-attach your external drive XP will remember.

Thanks - that is what I thought but apparently my computer doesn't remember
so well as it does this every time even after I change the drive letter.
