I want my XP home edition at start up to come up with a
network logon box. I have set the network and drives up
and can access the programs from our main computer which
is an NT Workstation. When I restart the XP computer I
do not get asked network logon. I then look at the net
work connections and access them and are asked for logon
then. But I also have one program that after I have
logged on I cannot access it as it cant find the path. I
look into the mapped drive connections and they are still
there. So I make another shortcut to this program and
then it works. But if I shut the computer down again Im
back to square one and have to redo it over again - Can
anybody help me pleeaasee.

Run the Network Setiup Wizard

Make sure that you choose the options to connect to workgroup. Set username and password

The Login Options should now come up when you startup the XP machine.

I redid the Network setup wizard and went through the
procedure again. I restarted the machine, It did not come
up with network logon box at start up only personal
setting, still can see my workgroup connected, etc, when I
go to use a program from the other network machine it says
the folder on s:\bm specified in the Start In Box is not
valid, make sure folder exists and path correct. I
checked the drive it is still mapped. So I do another
shortcut to my screen for this folder, and then it works
again. But if I shut down, I got to do it all over again.

Hope this is what you need...

Open an explorer window (windows key + e)...
On the menu bar (top) click tools then map network drive...
Select a drive letter you wish to use...
Click browse and navigate to the share you wish to connect to...
Make sure the check box is checked for reconnect at logon...

To get the classic logon ("network logon box) to display...
Open the control panel...
Click user accounts...
Click "Change the way users log on/off
Uncheck..."Use welcome screen"

I assume the computer is NOT part of a domain.

Hope this helps.
