Network login timing

Tavares

I manage 70 xp systems networked to a 2003 server. The problem is whe
the xp systems are setup with the standard dynamic address for thei
individual NIC, they login and logout from the network in seconds.
Because of other operations required within the company, I have had t
replace the dynaic addresses with corresponding static IP addresses a
well as primary and secondary dns entries to each system for Interne
access. Once the static is in place, the network login/logout time goe
to 2-3- minutes !!!
Can anyone shed some light on this problem as my users cannot tolerat
2-3 minutes to login or logout?

TIA,

When you statically configure the client, use the DNS server address for the
internal DNS server that contains the AD domain entries, NOT an ISP DNS
server. The internal DNS server should forward to an Internet DNS server.
