Network LAN connection -unplugged

I have a 400mhz Dell PC .I loaded Windows 2000 PRO on it.
Since this time I can't seem to have my LAN connections
work! I had an Ethernet 3Com NIC and now I have a Dlink
Wireless PCI adapter card installed. BOTH have red X
through them and status is "unplugged-not connected..)



Any help would be appreciated...

Do you have a networkcable plugged in and is it connected to another
computer or hub?
What do you see when you rightclick on the lanconnection and choose
properties?
