First, hope this is the right newsgroup for this problem; if not, please
re-direct me.

My notebook (not connected to any network, dial-up ISP is EarthLink) gives
me the following error message every time I try to connect to
www.humana.com:

Network Error
Unable to request URL from host www.humana.com:80: Operation timed out

The problem is relatively new, started happening about 3-4 days ago. What
may be relevant or not is that Humana.com is the ONLY website that I have
this problem with; all other sites open properly. I checked ZA (free
version) for a setting that may need to be changed, but could not find
anything. Also use AdSubtract, but could not find any relevant setting
there either.

Will greatly appreciate any ideas or pointers.

Thanks,
George

P.S. Pls. reply in ng; e-mail address is invalid.

Well, there's nothing wrong with the website; I can get there with no
problem. I don't know why you would put in the :80 at the end, but even
putting that full address in works OK and resolves back to
www.humana.com. The site looks pretty standard, too. Try putting it in
your Trusted Sites and see if that helps.

Malke, thanks for the reply. I didn't put :80 at the end of the
URL in the Address Bar, that is part of the Network Error text
that I get after trying to access www.humana.com. Now I wonder
what the :80 refers to?

The "timed out" comes up pretty fast: the progress meter (on the
Status Bar) will proceed normally to exactly 3 bars (always 3) in
about 20 seconds and then up pops the Network Error "timed out"
text with the :80 at the end of www.humana.com as part of the
text, the :80 never shows up in the Address Bar).

I put the site in Trusted sites (Tools / Internet Options /
Security / Trusted sites) but it didn't make any difference; still
get same timed-out message after exactly 3 progress bars.

Any other ideas or pointers will be very much appreciated.

Regards,
George

The ":80" is probably referring to Port 80, which is Internet traffic.
Do you have a firewall or some sort of net nanny type software in
place? Some sort of parental controls from your ISP software or other
third-party software? Perhaps the site is being blocked by that.
