I have a simple 2 machine network, each running XP Pro. I'm attempting to
play a DVD on a mapped dvd+/-RW drive on computer 1 using CyerPower DVD
software on computer 2. the sound is choppy and the picture barely comes
in. I have tried the VIdeo Lan software, but that comes is choppy as well.
I assume my network (a d-link-624 [i'm not using the wireless capabilities
of this router yet] connected to each computer through a wired 10/100 NIC)
is more than capable of handling the bandwidth required to stream mpeg2.

No. Copy the DVD disk to the hard drive.

I haven't been able to view a DVD from a shared drive over either a full 100
wired network, and it's definitely much worse over wireless-g. I have no
idea whether a 1000 wired network might work, there are no gigabit routers
available yet, only switches.
