Network driver only works after restart

When i boot my machine, the network driver doesn't work but if i restart it
with the restart function, it does work.

I had trouble with the windows xp cd and couldn't copy driver.cab and some
other files. As a result I couldn't get my network driver or adapter
working. i downloaded the drivers from the aopen website (my motherboard).
so now i can connect to the net and have a network driver and adapter but
with the problem mentioned above. please help.

Install Windows XP correctly first. I don't think it is a good
idea to try to repair an installation that did not work.
