Network Connections not displaying any connections

Very recently, my 'Network Connections' folder has
stopped displaying my network connections... ALL OF
THEM. I have deleted some of my connections and I have
configured new ones, both manually and by using the
wizard. Yet, when I complete the 'new connection' it
doesn't get displayed.

I know that the connection exists because I can use it
and actually see its 'properties' etc. using other
methods, and, if I try to create a 'new connection' with
the same name, I will receive an error message telling me
that that name is "already in use," so I must choose a
different name.

My question is, how do I restore the file(s) or program
(s) that store and display this information without
having to restore the whole system.

Everything else seems to be working fine, for now. And
when I tried to restore to an earlier date the other day
it didn't work for some unclear reason... I would prefer
not to have to go back too far, too much work... ya
know? I clearly have some corrupted files because of
recent power outages, but I don't know which ones to
restore... know what I mean? Thanks for any help. -

First make sure that your Network Connections Service and Remote Access
Connection Manager services are running. If they are then compare the LAN
connections in the connections folder with the Network Adapter drivers in
device manager. If there is a Network Adapter driver that doesn't have a
corresponding connection in the connections folder then try reinstalling it.
