That message just means that the computer can't access the Internet
through that connection. It should be able to access the other
computer OK.

To eliminate the message, you can either:

1. Assign static private IP addresses, such as 192.168.0.1 and
192.168.0.2, to the computers.

or:

2. Right-click the network connection, click Properties, and un-check
the box "Notify me when this connection has limited or no
connectivity".

Also make sure your using a crossover Ethernet cable versus a straight cable
if the PCs are connected direct one to the other...

That helped clear the message, but i am trying to make the connection in
order to play a game with someone on the other laptop. when i serve as the
host computer, and the other computer tries and joins or they host and i join
it seems the connection is lost. i have tried a different cable but it did
not make a difference. i have even used the same cable with my lap top before
when a desk top computer was the hoas and it worked fine. so i know i am
doing it right. what could be preventing the connection from staying
connected? thanks for your previous help. i appreciate it.
