One of my computers on a small network has a network problem in that it
always loses a part of it's connection to the network during the day. It can
still see other computers and connect to them but others lose the ability to
connect to it. All computers run XP Prof SP2 and the automatic power switch
off has been stopped on all machines.
Does anybody have any ideas please?
Thanks in advance

Please check if they have same network setting. (Subnet mask and Default
gateway. )

Second, you can try to connect that computer by IP. If it works, seem to be
DNS problem. Please let's know the result.

Sorry that i am not make it clear. Just want to ask if you use hostname or IP
to make the connection? Is there any different in pinging hostname and IP?
