After my XP Pro machine wakes from Hibernation or Standby mode, I find my
network connection isn't quite ready. Opening a webpage (or accessing the
network any other way) will fail for a couple tries.. But eventually by
just clicking a couple links, it will come back to life. I've tried the
repair function (that doesn't instantly fix it). I've also tried disabling
and re-enabling the Local Area Network Connection, and I'm not quite sure
yet if that is a guaranteed instant on-demand fix either.
My network card is pretty old, but has been quite reliable. I'm using a
Linksys LNE100TX (LC82C169)
http://www.linksys.com/download/driver.asp?dlid=2
I'm wondering if it is simply not hardware compatible with the sleep and
hibernation capabilities of XP.
Actually, I think this problem is something new and hasn't always plagued
the card. That is to say, I think there was a time not so long ago, where I
was using XP with Sleep and Hibernation, and the system was waking up with
the network ready to go.
I'm assuming this isn't a very uncommon issue, but I haven't found an
obvious solution on the web as yet. Are there any quick fixes/tips/trick or
known solutions to solving this "network not ready after resuming from power
saving" problem?
I could grab a new network card, but now that I think of it, I think my NIC
wasn't always exhibiting this problem under XP. I'd hate to go buy a new
NIC and not solve the problem!!
Thanks in advance for any help / feedback / insight / etc.
