Network Connection goes offline

I have a laptop that is in a docking station. Every once and a while it
will say that it's disconnected from the network and the user is working
offline. What causes that? Is there a timeout period? How can I disable
this?

Thanks,
Jasper

Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device Manager

Find the entry for your network adapter and double-click it to get its
Properties. Click on the Power Management tab and uncheck the box that
says "allow Windows to turn off this device when not in use".
