Network Card Causes Files to open slowly

Has anyone had this problem? When we disable the NIC, all files open
normally, when we re-enable it, files associated with any application take
anywhere from 30 to 45 seconds to open. I have updated the NIC drivers, ran
an XP restore, dis-abled and re-enabled some handlers, ran a virus scan and
an anti-spyware scan. I just don't know what to do other than wipe the
machine out and begin again. If you have seen this and solved it, please let
me know.

Thanks
Scott

Try disabling your anti-virus and seeing if that makes a change. Older
versions of some anti-virus are not XP / network friendly.

Personally, I think XP just doesn't like being networked and finds some
excuse to delay things. You should be happy its only 30 to 45 seconds! lol...
but that's me :)

Maybe the NIC card is bad. If it is, then XP is most likely trying to get
it to work in preference over anything else.

Disable scan network drives in your a/v program.
