Hi,

I have a problem with my network card. It is constantly
coming up with a X, and saying that a network cable is
unplugged. Fact is that there is a network cable
installed.

I have re installed the drivers for that card but still
it continually gives me this problem, I have 2 windows xp
machines and am using a crossover cable for the 2 pcs.

Any help would be appreciated.

If they are directly connected to one another then you are right with
the cross cable. May want to make or swap out the cable for a new one.
If the 2 pc's are connected through a hub or a switch, you will want to
use a straight cable

have you checked the cable isn't broken smewhere and that the rj-45
connection points are well connected?
or are you maybe (unknowingly) using a cross-cable?
