Network and Internet access Problem

Hello,
I Have XP Home edition and it was working fine and
all of sudden system hang up while I was playing game on
net, So I restarted my machine, and after that my
connection to internet was lost and I can't my network
computer onthe problem machine. I chang the nic card,but
it does not help.I also try to force IP address in the nic
property, still no go. In the IPconfig I donot see my
gateway IP or correct subnet mask either. Domain name and
Suffix also stay blank. I tried to release IP and renew,
but it does not renew IP address at all. If know this
symtom,please give me suggesion that how can I restore my
network and internet.

Did you also try replacing the cable to ensure that it's not a cabling
problem?
