Network adapter keeps turning off and on

Hi, i am having issues with a computer regarding its network adapter. I
formated and reinstalled windows xp home twice and im still having the same
problem. I connect to my router via a cat5 and that connects to my cable
modem. Every 4 or so seconds, i get the little balloon at the right hand
corner of the screen telling me that that network cable has been unplugged.
then it instantly reconnects. It cant be the actual network adapter which is
integraded because my wireless nic card in the pc is doing the same thing. I
doubt its the router, because my 4 other pc's on the router stays connected
just fine. Does anyone think it could be a resouce issue or perhaps the
Motherboard is bad? I cant find any firmware updates. Ive tried disabling
the onboard nic through bios, and still the issue remains. If anyone can
help me, i would greatly appreciate it. Thank you

Hi..
U can try to lowering your speed on the card. Set it on 10MB or try "lock"
it at 100MB.. I might help..

Both cards actually do the same thing, so i dont think its only one card.
Thanks though

are your pcs networked? i had a similar problem when i tried to set up a
network bridge between my pcs, and i only fixed it by disabling the bridge.
then i realized that i didn't need a bridge, so it all worked out.
