Network adapter can't start - error code 10

This D-link DFE-670TXD network card worked fine when my
Gateway SOLO 5300 had windows ME installed. After I
clean-installed Windows XP pro, the network card can't
start, it has "!" displayed before the card name in
device manager and error code is 10. I have updated
driver (windows Xp) installed for this network card.

How can I make it work? Thanks!
 
go to device manager and remove the card then restart xp and see if it
detects if correctly and loads the drivers.

I tried uninstall the card from device manager, reinsall
again. Also tried restarting xp and load driver again,
but still got the same error. Device manager show the
card name correctly, but just can't start it. (error code
10)

Any other thoughts? Thanks!
