Netshell.dll not a valid windows image

when windows starts up i get this error

The application or DLL C:\WINDOWS\System32\netshell.dll is not a valid windows image.

dose anyone know how to fix this?

see if this is any help..

Put your XP cd in the drive and go to Start>Run and type "sfc /scannow"
without the quotes. Note that there is a space between "sfc" and "
scannow". This will replace any system files like netshell.dll that may
have gotten corrupted. Please repost if you need more help, and include
what you've already done to troubleshoot the problem.

The Windows XP file netshell.dll is actually hosed or corrupted. You need to
replace it either from the XP CD or by reinstalling the latest service pack.

Please reply to news group.

I think that netshell.dll has something to to with file sharing. I'm
not positive, but I remember seeing that file name on a 98 machine I
installed file sharing on.

Hope that was helpful.
