NetMeeting Problem

I cannot get NetMeeting to start with Windows XP, though
I can accept a NetMeeting call from another colleague who
has Windows 98. None of us with XP can get NetMeeting to
work. Is there a patch to address this?

You multi-posted this ... I replied quickly in another group with a
suggestion, but re-reading this here I am completed confused. HOw can
you say you can't get it to start, yet you can accept a call? That
makes little logical sense. What am I missing? What exactly is your
problem?

Run: Start/Run/conf.exe

Remove: Start/Run/RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
C:\WINDOWS\inf\msnetmtg.inf,NetMtg.Remove

Reinstall: To reinstall, open the Windows\Inf folder (this is a hidden
folder, so you may need to adjust your Folder Options
to show hidden files and folders. Or you can click Start, Run and enter
%systemroot%\Inf).

Locate the msnetmtg.inf file in the Inf folder. Right click and select
Install. Have your XP CD handy.

What I mean by "start" is that I cannot initiate a
NetMeeting call. I can respond to one if I am invited to
a net meeting, but cannot initiate a call on my own.

Kelly: I was able to do the "Remove" step of these
instructions, but the install did not work. I right
clicked on "Install" and inserted my XP CD, but it could
not locate the cb32.exe file from the CD. Any advice?

When you call someone else, what happens? Any error messages?

I assume you are calling by IP address? If yes, have you tried pining
that IP address to ensure it's at least reachable?
