Hi

I have a windows 2000 server. On Startup it hangs
on "preparing Network conn" Gives me the startup screen
then will not log me on. Message i get is "Netlogon
service not started"

I have pinged the server and got a reply
I have tried Win VNC "remote connection" which doesn't
work.
Tried remote desktop and will not connect!!!
Have tried logging on locally and with no network cable
connected.
Once on startup screen, cannot access shared files either.

Any help/advice very welcome

So you do can logon locally? Check Events logs, re-run services - Netlogon,
RPC etc, patch the server...

Tried logging on locally, and in safe mode etc... No go..
IBM Eng. did fit a new tape drive couple on days ago
though??

Recheck the assembly. Disable all the hardware but video.
Perform in-place upgrade
