The Current Product Version is NetBrute Scanner 1.0.0.9.

"NetBrute scans a range of IP addresses for shared resources that have
been shared via Microsoft File and Printer Sharing. In addition, any SMB
compatible shared resources will show (I.e. Samba Servers on a Unix/Linux
machine). It is to be used by system administrators or home users to see
what types of resources are shared and to warn the computer users if any
unsecured resources are displayed."

Anyone have any *experience* with this? It says it's "free to DOWNLOAD"
(my emphasis), but that's the normal claim of shareware, adware, demoware,
and so on. The quesiton is, is it *freeware*? The license isn't
presented at the site -- they just say you'll get it with the product.

The EULA is in the zip file.

The EULA is in the zip file.

Like I said, you only get it when you download the program.

So what does it say? That's the question. For some reason, they're
not wanting us to be able to read it on the site. Is that because
they're right that it's a free *download*, and are hiding the fact that
it's not *freeware*? That's my point -- it sounds fishy. Most freeware
*says* it's freeware, up front. This one, like many non-freeware
product only says "free download". That's often a weasel-word thing to
get you to download shareware.

Right. Oversight on my part.

EULA is pasted at the bottom of this post.

In this case it doesn't seem to apply. I downloaded it and tried it. No
surprises when I sniffed the line when using their program. I also scanned
my system for malware and there's nothing. Their wording concerning the
conditions of use could be better but it definitely looks like it's
freeware. Not a terrible scanner however. Foundstone Superscan (versions 3
and 4) are better IMO.
