NetBEUI in XP SP2 is dead

I saw NetBeui-only print-servers from my XP SP1 successfully.
Now, after complete reinstall to XP SP2 (and usual protocol driver files
copying to system32 and inf folders and protocol installation) I can't find
any PS.
Whatado?

Install NetBEUI. It is on your XP CD, in the ValueAdd (or something like
that) folder. In the folder with the NetBEUI files, you will find a .TXT
file that tells how to install NetBEUI; make sure you follow the procedure
exactly, or NetBEUI will appear to install but it won't work.

Also, always turn off firewalls while chasing net problems. With SP2,
the built-in firewall (Windows firewall, a/k/a ICF) is on by default.

Dear Bob, I wrote it for you about "usual protocol driver files copying ...
installation". You see, I had it alright in SP1. Now it doesn't work! And
firewall doesn't matter. Excuse my English.

Is it possible that you have to add an exception to the XPSP2 firewall to
allow Netbeui to work through it? Turn the XPSP2 firewall OFF and see if
everything works, then. If so, you need to add an exception or possible do
something like permanently turn the XPSP2 firewall off and use some other
3rd party firewall.

Firewalls only operate on the TCP/IP protocol. They have no effect on
the NetBEUI protocol, and it isn't possible to create an exception for
NetBEUI.
