I have had this problem before and solved it by
uninstalling "Service Pack 2;" however, I was able to
reinstall it and get my network to work. It only recently
went back to this headache.
My laptop uses XP Home with SP2 at this point and has both
a built-in Realtek land lan as well as a D-Link wireless
lan card. Now barring the fact that XP does little to
support the D-Link DWL-650, it was working two weeks ago
perfectly. At this time, the D-Link card is on a network
with a single computer that is not connected to the
internet. This is the only network that has file-sharing
turned on. The other network is to be primarily used for
the internet. While both are connected and in working
order, I can only connect to any web site on the wireless
network where I was able to connect to either before. Why
is Windows refusing to acknowledge the Realtek
connection? It claims that it is connected and repairing
the connection does nothing. As soon as I disconnect from
any wireless network, I can then connect to either the
internet or shared computers where I could not before.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
