Hi Chuck,
Thanks for the reply,
I have 3, 2 are on WinXP SP2 (PC0, & PC1), on Ethernet P2P workgroup, and
one Win2K SP4 (PC2) on wireless lan WLAN from the INEXQ AP and INEXQ
wireless card CRO45g using shared WEP. All get DHCP from the router.
[HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa], restrictanonymous = (0)
and
restrictanonymoussam = (1)
Have used Browstat.exe got main computer PC0 as master no backup. However
for browstat GB 1 MSHOME ='Unable to get backup list: The list of servers
for this workgroup is not currently available'.
With browstat VW 1, I get:
Remoting NetServerEnum to \\PC0 on transport
\Device\NetBT_Tcpip_{3E7E467D-7339-4F2A-9AF0-B2CA920A251B} with flags
ffffffff
1 entries returned. 1 total. 20 milliseconds
\\PC2 NT 05.00 (W,S,NT,PBR)
Addressing works OK using \\netbios or \\192.168.62.nn
I have Used nbtstat-n
Got the following nametable on Master & similar on PC1 but only PC1 listed
____________________________________________
nbtstat-n
LAN:
Node IpAddress: [192.168.62.n0] Scope Id: []
NetBIOS Local Name Table
Name Type Status
___________________________________________
PC0 <00> UNIQUE Registered
PC0 <20> UNIQUE Registered
MSHOME <00> GROUP Registered
MSHOME <1E> GROUP Registered
MSHOME <1D> UNIQUE Registered
..__MSBROWSE__.<01> GROUP Registered
____________________________________________
On PC2 got
WLAN(ssid):
Node IpAddress: [192.168.62.n2] Scope Id: []
NetBIOS Local Name Table
Name Type Status
---------------------------------------------
PC2 <00> UNIQUE Registered
PC2 <20> UNIQUE Registered
MSHOME <00> GROUP Registered
MSHOME <1E> GROUP Registered

So wondering why only 2 entries for each on the W2K machine.
Anyway I continue NET VIEW got MSHOME is not accessible great!.

How many computers do you have? Are they all Windows NT/2K/XP? The
router
should not be involved in an election - it's only a switch on the LAN, it
has no
other presence.
The Microsoft Browstat program will show us what browsers you have in your
domain / workgroup, at any time.
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=188305
You can download Browstat from either:
<
http://www.dynawell.com/reskit/microsoft/win2000/browstat.zip>
<
http://rescomp.stanford.edu/staff/manual/rcc/tools/browstat.zip>
Browstat is very small (40K), and needs no install. Just unzip the
downloaded
file, copy browstat.exe to any folder in the Path, and run it from a
command
window, by "browstat status". Make sure all computers list the same
browsers.
For more information about the browser subsystem (very intricate), see:
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=188001
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=188305
<
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winntas/deploy/prodspecs/ntbrowse.mspx>
The browser requires anonymous access, so look at registry key
[HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa], value restrictanonymous.

The above articles refer to Windows 2000. Remember WinXP is NT V5.1, and
Win2K
is NT V5.0.
