Net Send was working fine on both computers on a 2-computer network
before SP2 was installed on one of them. Now Net Send can not find
the user name from either computer. All other network functions work
fine as before.

Any ideas? - thanks

What "all other network functions" have you tried?

With XP SP2, check and enable the File and Printer Sharing exception on the
Windows Firewall. Are you behind a router? If so, set the FPS exception scope
to your subnet.

Please provide ipconfig information for each computer.
Start - Run - "cmd". Type "ipconfig /all >c:\ipconfig.txt" into the command
window - Open c:\ipconfig.txt in Notepad, copy and paste into your next post.
Identify operating system (by name, version, and SP level) with each ipconfig
listing.

And please don't contribute to the spread and success of email address mining
viruses. Posting your email address openly will get you more unwanted email,
than wanted email. Learn to munge your email address properly, to keep yourself

Net Send uses the Messenger Service. SP2 turns off the Messenger
service as a security measure.

To turn on the Messenger Service:

1. Right click My Computer, and click Manage.
2. Double click Services and Applications.
3. Double click Services.
4. Double click Messenger. If the Service status is Stopped, click
Start.
5. Set the Startup type to Automatic.
