If I am using the public internet and connecting via cable modem behind
LinkSys Hub/Router and my IP address is not static, will be able to host
Net Meetings?

After installing the product and running it, I get a message saying "A
Directory Server Could not be found, you may have misspelled a value...to
change, select Tools/Options/General...When I go there to look, I see
"Microsoft Internet Directory" in the directory settings. I did not type
that.

When I select "Open Messenger", it fails and tells me I do not have an
internet connection. My internet connection is working just fine, but this
application seems to have a problem finding it.

What should I do to correct the problem?

Hi Jim,

Run: Start/Run/conf.exe

Remove: Start/Run/RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
C:\WINDOWS\inf\msnetmtg.inf,NetMtg.Remove

Reinstall: To reinstall, open the Windows\Inf folder (this is a hidden
folder, so you may need to adjust your Folder Options
to show hidden files and folders. Or you can click Start, Run and enter
%systemroot%\Inf).

Locate the msnetmtg.inf file in the Inf folder. Right click and select
Install. Have your XP CD handy.

Can I download NetMeeting 3.0 from MS.com and Install it on my Windows XP
system without damage ? Will it work to make Computer to phone calls ? Is
there a simpler program to make computer to phone calls ?

Microsoft NetMeeting is already installed in Windows XP.
Perform the following procedure to access it:

1. Right-click on your Desktop and select NEW > SHORTCUT
2. In the Create Shortcut box type: "C:\Program Files\NetMeeting\conf.exe" , and click Next.
3. Type in a name for the shortcut, such as NetMeeting, then click Finish.
4. A convenient shortcut to NetMeeting will appear on your Desktop.
5. You can also open NetMeeting this way: Start > Run and type: Conf.exe , and hit enter.

If you mean that you want to make telephone calls using your computer, and
you have a phone plugged into your modem, and you want to use a simple
program, use the already installed Windows XP Phone Dialer accessory. It's
located in the folder:

C:\Program Files\Windows NT

The file name is: dialer.exe

If Windows XP is installed on any drive with a letter other than C, then the
above path to dialer.exe will start with the letter of that drive.

You can right click dialer.exe, then left click Send To/Desktop (create
shortcut), and have a desktop icon for it.

Or, you could just click your Start button, click Run,
Type: dialer.exe
Click the OK button (this last method would OK if you plan on using the
program infrequently)

is compressed. I made a shortcut but because the program is compressed it
does not work. How can I de-compress it ??

For some reason your first reply did not get to my Email program. I looked
for it a couple of times, under many search words.
Thank you for reposting.
