Possibly yes. Some of your applications may still need 1.1, if you
remove it they will not run.

..NET Framework newer versions (now up to 3.5 beta) are not inclusive or
updates to previous versions - you may need 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5 to
have themall.
 
For all it's worth I don't bother installing these things unless I want
to install an application that specifically needs it, and most often I
intentionally skip on apps that ask for the newest dot net.
