.net framework 2.0 and 3.5

Hi, I am slightly confused as to what is included in 3.5. From what I've
read on wiki, 3.5 = 2.0 + 3.0 + 3.5 ? I have a number of applications
dependent on 2.0, so will installing 3.5 provide the functionality required?
