.NET Compact Framework for VS 2002?

T

Tom

Is there no way to write Compact Framework apps on VS 2002? Reason I am
asking is that, in going thru some old .NET magazine articles (from
2001/2002) it sounded as though one COULD put the compact framework on 2002
and it would appear in the IDE.

Just curious....

Hi,

No, AFAIK, there was a SDE back when the CF was in beta, but I think that
from that you need Vs 03, professional at least, the standard versions do
not provide it

The early Betas of the Compact Framework were part of "Smart Device
Extensions" which was an add-on to 2002. However this was dropped and the
functionality rolled into VS2003. You're going to need to upgrade to 2003
Professional or a higher edition to create Compact Framework projects in
Visual Studio.
