.NET Books

I have been programming with Borland tools for many years and just installed
the trial of .NET 2003. My question is for good books that describe the
entire .NET Visual Studio. Some type of ".NET From Ground Up" or "Master
..NET", you get the idea. Even good C# books.

Thanks, Larry.

An absolute must for any .NET developer (not only C#) is
"Applied .NET Framework Programming" by Jeffrey Richter. Amazon
currently have it bundled with "Programming Windows with C#" by Charles
Petzold, for USD 76.98

Quality Central. The best way to bug Borland about bugs.

I saw these last night and almost bought them. I am going back there now
and take another look. Thank you.

Hi,

I have the Programming Microsoft Windows With C# book and, whilst it is
good, it concentrates on GUI programming a lot. Thats fine but its also
useful to have a more general book.

The book I used when I started learning C# was Programming C# by Jesse
Liberty which I found to be first class. I'd also say Professional C# by
Simon Robinson is very good but maybe not as geared towards someone getting
started with C#.

Colin

Hi. Thanks for mentioning my book. I do have a gentler introduction to C#
for those with less experience in Object Oriented Programming called
Learning C#. You can read about both books (and my four other books on
..NET), and find the source code, errata, FAQ and related information (as
well as a link to my private book support forum) on my web site:

Thanks again.
