Net Access on WinXP Pro

I am trying to access a computer on my home network. After I've located it
and attempt to connect, it defaults to the Administrator account. I enter the
correct password (I am the admin) and it will not accept it or connect.

I am aware that net access in a home network is supposed to default to the
Guest account, and all of the other Win2KPro computers in the network do that
except this one computer. Any idea how I can either change the default access
from Administrator to Guest or get the Administrator to work?

Well, the remote computer is asking for the password to its own local
administrator account. You can reset this through its Computer Management
console to be sure you are using the correct one.

Probably, what you want to do instead is enable Simple File Sharing - See:

Thanks, Doug, but I've already done both of those things. For some reason,
the remote computer does not recognize the admin password. Is there a way to
set the default access to the guest account as it should be?

Try:

Open a command prompt:

net user guest /active:yes ENTER

Did that too. I've searched the KB, which is where I noticed that the guest
account should be the default. Can't figure out why it's defaulting to the
admin account.

Just got it to work...even though the user said Administrator, the guest
password works. Go figure.

its probably saying "administrator" because you are "remotely
administrating" it

just a thought :>
