.Net 3.5 on XPe

K

Kevin Benstead

Hi

We have an instrument with XPe and .Net 2.0 on it with a .Net application
running. Our developers will soon be moving onto Visual Studio 2008 which
uses features of .Net 3.5.

My question is can I just download the full .Net 3.5 package and install it
on my instrument (i can do this outside of target designer on my master disk
prior to the re-seal and clone process). I have several other things i have
to install anyway so one more makes no odds to me.

Are there any other dependencies i need to worry about (assuming i had them
all sorted on my previous verion with .Net 2.0 installed).

Do I need to un-install .Net 2.0 before installing 3.5?

Thanks

Kevin

Its worth noting that with VS2008, there is a dropdown menu that allows you
to specify which version of .NET to use in an application:
1.1, 2.0. 3.0 or 3.5 (Not 1.0 though).

So your developers can move to VS2008 but still use it to generate .NET 2.0
code.

Thanks

But you know what software engineers are like. Within a very short amount
of time they'll be wanting to use some of the flashy new fetaures of 3.5.

I don't understand the attraction myself. I'm sure programs used to run
faster on my old 2MHz Z80 system than they do now.

So did your get .NET 3.5 installed? I haven't been able to get it to
install?
