Nervous about installing propriety themes!

I would like to change XP's theme to one of the many available but I'm
nervous about rotting up the present stable installation.

Can anyone in this NG advise if, for instance, the Vista theme from Top
Themes .com can safely be installed and effectively uninstalled without
inflicting too much damage.

Or any quality source with a proven track record.

don't worry it will not cause any serious problem and you can always
roll back to
windows style from the apperance menu form properties i am using
windows blind
for a long time now there is no problems at all.

I'm never nervous about 'rotting up' my Windows installation because I don't
install unsupported software.

Should my Windows installation get rotted up for some other reason - which
hasn't happened yet - I would simply restore my system partition from
backup.

You are wise to be nervous about installing free themes or screen savers.
Much spyware is distributed this way. In cases like this Google can help.
The following search doesn't come up with anything too disturbing so one has
to assume the site is relatively safe. Personally I wouldn't install any
third party themes. I have seen too many problems caused by them.

Thanks for the advice.

No unsupported software will be installed.

Luna is all I need.

Like you, I've gazed with longing eyes at some of the themes I see available
from different web sites. Then I think of how solid my system is, how I've
never experienced a blue screen with XP, never been infected with any kind
of virus or other malware, never had to reinstall Windows....

If I want something cute to look at while I'm on the computer, I'll ask my
wife to sit next to me. I won't get much work done, but life is about
tradeoffs.

Agreed Ted, I'll stop looking and stay with XP standard. No blue screens
since Windows 98.
