I have Nero 6.6.1.4 Ultimate full version installed and running. StartSmart
does not work, and neither does Express. The main Nero Burning ROM program
works. Isn't the OEM version just the 'Express'?
Google up "Nero Lite". It's a version of Nero 7 with a custom installer that
does not try to install all the extra junk that conflicts with Vista. Works
great for me here.
I could not get the version of Nero you speak of to work on any build of
Vista. Just keeps reporting that Nero Burning-ROM Plug-in is not compatible.
Even if I could get it to install, I would probably get the same results as
installing Roxio Easy Media Creator 8: a drive that does not recognize discs
of any kind.
I have 6.6.1.4 working with 5744... However, I couldn't get Nero working
from the CD; I had to download the 6.6.1.4 udate from their site and run
under XP compatbility mode and as administrator! You need to make a note or
your product key as it WON'T be inserted automatically as it is when
insatlled from CD!
Hope that helps. NOTE: this is a clean install of Nero NOT an update after
the CD is installed!
