Nero 6 and CD recorder

I use Nero 6 (anything better?) and every time I turn it on without a CD
disc inserted into the recorder it freezes the recorder (impossible to open
the tray) as well as the Nero software itself. Making it hard to reboot the
machine in order to put things right.

By the way the OS is WinXP.

What I must do in order to correct this behaviour?

But... just one more question, how I must do that? The Nero's uninstaller
seems to remove all its components.

I, currently, have it "deactivated" but not uninstalled.

How I must remove that application alone?
