Need your advice - Wireless Router

L

Larry Gingrich

I have been given a Belkin FSD 6230-3 Wireless Router and a Belkin Wireless
card for my laptop to use in setting up a home network. Both my PC and
laptop are business devices that need to access my cable modem at the same
time.

Is this router arrangement preferred or should I look at a wireless hub?

The set-up CD is missing for the router (Belkin says I need to use their
setup CD). I can't find the setup CD. Where can I get the software? On-line?
Could not find software on Belkin website.

Finally, I tried to setup the router on Windows XP Professional. I can't
find a wrieless setup tap in Network connections as Microsoft says I should.
Suggestions?

I appreciate your advice and help.

wireless router is fine. Setup CD? maybe not. you should be able to use web
browser to access the router for setup. check the mfg web site for
documentation or the manal/cd that cam e withit.

Good Luck

A router is ALWAYS a better choice in creating a LAN than a hub.

I am surprised that you cannot find the info you need from the Belkin
website. If that website does not have it, then I'd buy a different brand.

You won't find any help for specific routers in any of the XP help
functions. You NEED Belkin help, or a different router that DOES provide
online help.
